The Event Info

The last event in 2010 featured over 600 exhibits from New Zealand, Australia and around the world. Showcasing the latest equipment, technology and ideas available to farmers and rural businesses right here in the South Island

The Southen Field Days is a major agricultural event that is held every two years at Waimumu, near Gore in Southland, New Zealand. On show over three days, during February 2012 will be the latest in rual technology, equipment and ideas from around the world. Drawing increasingly large crowds and with most leading rural businesses exhibiting, participating in this significant event is now regarded as essential if you have a product or service with a farming component.
If you are involved in farming, in any way, then this event should be in your diary, so keep the 15th-17th February 2012 free!

The Southern Field days is a non profit Incorporated Society, run by volunteers, except the secretary, who are all farmers or work in the agricultural field. Where ever possible other non profit groups within the local community such as clubs, schools, PTSs etc are used to help set up and run the events, which is an important fundraiser for them and benefiting the local area.

Where: Waimumu (12 kms from Gore)
How much: Adults $15 Children under 16 and Students (with student ID) free
Gate opening hours: 9-5pm each day
Dogs:  Absolutely no dogs at the field days please .

Special events

There are several events that exhibitors and the general public can get involved with.

Tractor pull
NZ Tractor Pull will be coming down again from the North Island, we are hoping to top the 60 tractors entered in 2010, if you are keen to enter please come down and join in the excitement, all information is on the website link.

Working demonstrations

Working Demonstrations, Over the 3 days of this event there are a variety of working demonstrations involving tractors and implements ranging from ploughing, baling, seed drilling and everything in-between. Anyone wishing to demo equipment will need fill in the free entry form and return with site contract, which can be found under 'Exhibitors' or feel free to contact us with questions.

Southern rural life - farm inventions
Southern Rural Life, farm inventions: Any new or interesting farm inventions, with 2 categories 'Market Prototype' and 'kiwi Ingenuity' $300 1st prize in both categories and $75 for 2nd, if you have any ideas that you would like to put forward, you will find the free entry form under 'Exhibitors'.
